God-Day-Um! No wonder Ayn Rand was such a cold-hearted bee-yotch, who hated her fellow man so much; with a face like hers, its a safe bet that she spent a lot of Friday nights at home by herself, brewing up bile and bitterness and conjuring up reasons why the "haves" should do a better job of screwing over the "have nots."
She was probably popular at parties though; that beak of hers looks like it would have worked pretty good for flipping the caps off beer bottles.
"Anybody want to fuck me up the nostrils?"
Her nose and her chin are in two different time zones.
No wonder she hated socialism so much; the soviets probably would have made her let two or three poor families move into her nose.
I suppose you think that she was kind of hot?
Mostly, I was just kind of shocked to finally see a real photograph of her, rather than a painting or an airbrushed photo-montage; the Ayn Rand stamp and the pictures on the front of most of her books make her look like some kind of fashion model instead of the hideously deformed freak that she was.
I think it really explains a lot about why she thought the way she did; society was probably pretty rough on her when she was a girl, so she was just "paying them back."
she had a lot of things wrong. but when i was in 9th grade i thought she was awesome. NINTH GRADE
Atals shrugged sucked..
I think I threw that book against the wall about 15 times reading it.. but ive only ever stopped readin one book.. this one called "the word".. it was religious assplay..
the fountainhead was aight..
Ill be readign the fountainhead again soon, since ive gotten into architecture, Im interested more in what the book was filled with..
The only pictures that I'd ever seen of her before, were her portrait on the postage stamp (pictured above) and the air-brushed, studio portraits on the back of her books (something like the one below.)
Comparing her ideolized portraits with "reality" is a pretty shocking contrast; it kind of makes me think that if she couldn't be honest with herself about the way that she looked, then she probably wasn't intellectually honest with herself either (I know that she didn't take the photos or paint the portrait herself, but it's reasonable to believe that as an author, she would have had control over such things.)
I tried to read "Atlas Shrugged" once in college, and I only got about half way into it before I bailed out and decided it wasn't worth the effort. As I recall, it wasn't written very well, and the "foil" that she set up to test her ideas against felt more like a shill than an valid counterpoint.
Lately, I've been reading a lot about Kinky Friedman's campaign for governor, and it does seem like he's "talking the good talk" and saying a lot of things that I'd like to hear a politician say ... but then again, "W" was saying stuff that made a lot of people happy when he campaigned too, but none of it ever came to pass.
Maybe I'm just a little bit leary of politicians from Texas after W and LBJ.
She's not pretty, but I don't think her nose is all that big.
My own nose makes me look like Jewy McHebe, which is partially appropriate :D
i didn't think her egoism pathetic. it was a half-hearted attempt at saying "my only intention, and sole intention, is to take what i want from you." bitterness, hatred, and lonely friday nights aren't anything to look down upon, but i think she played it too soft.
this is cumslinger by the way. eda's logged in and i must join her in bed.
okay. shit. is it ANNE rand or EIN rand???
