World Wide Punk
I went ahead and purchased this myself. There's some good shit on this CD and the money is going to a good cause. I suggest everyone here check it out!
MAYBE! I NEVER DID GET AROUND TO ASKING FOR ITS SEXUAL ORIENTATION!
My god...That's brilliant!
I wonder who are they going to send the money to if this is a benefit comp..lawyers? human rights organizations? or are they just gonna pocket it?
DON'T FORGET THE FORCED CHILD LABOR
That's a pretty piss-poor comp, but I'm down for the motivation for the comp. I wish the website had more detailed information about why the punks are being arrested and mentioned specific cases. And, as Frenchy mentioned above, I'm not exactly sure how my money would be used to help.
Just sayin' is all.
You could probably search for "Banda Aceh" "Indonesia" and "punk arrest" and come up with the story.
I see what you're saying though; people usually don't donate to causes if those causes are so obscure that potential donors need to Google the cause first, in order to figure out what it's about.
Wow an actual cause... amazing
Doesn't it seem just a little bit weird that in the year 2012 (about 30 years after punk's "official death,") that there are still people out there dressing up as punks and trying to breath life into punk's cold, blue, rotten corpse?
I hit 18 years old in the mid-1970s, so for me, it would have been kind of like if in the 70s, there were still 1940s style big-band-generation, "swing era" wannabes, running around wearing zoot suits, saying stuff like "Oh You Kid!" and thinking they were part of some important, relevant social movement.
My own high school aged son claims that not only are there no punks at all at his school this year, but it's getting pretty difficult to find kids who are still into *any* form of guitar-based rock n' roll anymore; apparently "dubstep" is the big thing with high school kids now and punk is about as square and irrelevant as the Macarena.
Muslim countries are usually more than 30 years behind culturally..
I've got a bunch of relatives that live in Clovis and Roswell New Mexico, and those folks always seemed like they were about 30 years behind too; when I visited there in the 1970s, the whole town was still stuck in the 1950s; when I visited in the 1980s, they had finally made it up to the early 1960s. They're probably up to about the late 1990s by now.
Being from New Mexico, I can confirm that.

Re: It's Fucking 2012 ...
dubstep is the worst music I've ever heard, well maybe not the worst but certainly the gayest.
It makes me proud that (so far) my son hates much of the same stuff I do (although I've got to admit, he also hates a lot of the stuff I love too.)
